The Stuttgart Card (officially called StuttCard) is the official tourist card for the Stuttgart Region. It gives you free admission to over 40 museums and leisure attractions, discounts on the Stuttgart Citytour hop-on/hop-off bus, and perks at selected restaurants and theatres. It is available for 24, 48 or 72 hours.
The StuttCard PLUS includes everything in the standard StuttCard, plus unlimited free travel on all public transport (buses and trains) across the entire Stuttgart Region (VVS network, standard class). This is especially useful for reaching attractions like the Porsche Museum, Wilhelma or Ludwigsburg Palace, which are best reached by public transport.
After booking, you receive a confirmation email with a PDF file containing your StuttCard tickets. Simply show the QR code on your StuttCard to the staff at each partner attraction – no pick-up required. You can display it on your phone or print it out.
The StuttCard activates on first use – meaning the moment you use it for the first time at an attraction or on public transport. From that point, it is valid for the selected duration (24, 48 or 72 hours).
No, each included attraction or service can be used once during the validity period. However, with the StuttCard PLUS, public transport is unlimited for the entire duration.
The Stuttgart Card is designed for adults who pay the regular admission price. Many museums in Stuttgart already offer reduced or free entry for children, students and seniors. For families with young children, it may be more cost-effective to purchase only adult cards and pay the reduced children’s rates at each attraction individually.
Yes, both the Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum are included with free entry in the StuttCard. These two museums alone already cover most of the cost of a 24-hour StuttCard.
StuttCard PLUS includes free travel on the entire VVS network (Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund Stuttgart) in standard class. This covers all S-Bahn (suburban trains), U-Bahn (metro), buses and regional trains within the Stuttgart Region – including connections to Ludwigsburg, Esslingen and surrounding areas.
Most museums in Stuttgart are closed on Mondays. Notable exceptions include the Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum, which are open Tuesday to Sunday. If your trip includes a Monday, plan accordingly and focus on outdoor attractions, the Wilhelma Zoo, the TV Tower or the Stuttgart Citytour.
